If your teen is on the fence about attending just tell them: "No cap pookie-wookie, Bible Olympics is vibes, you don’t wanna be left out and catch that FOMO." Don't worry, they will understand what we mean by that.

Great question! 

But first, please don't think that you are ever underprepared to attend. That would be a misunderstanding of the purpose of the event. This event wasn't made to create even more barriers in scripture but just the opposite. Even if you picked up the bible just once because of the event, then we are all winning. As you might be able to tell, we really just want to encourage you to read the bible.

Here are some recommendations:

• read the book straight through as quickly as you can to get a good idea of the overarching plot (events, people, places, etc)

• read it again and while you read ask yourself questions about the text (ie: who, what, where, when, why, how)

• and then read it again and try to recall the story before you read it (this helps test your retention and simultaneously keeps your mind active)

• BONUS: call up some friends and read it together (small groups work very well for this)

There are many wonderful resources online (videos, courses, commentaries) that are truly helpful, if you find some good ones please let us know and share with others. However it can become easy to rely on these resources and lose familiarity with scripture itself. If all else fails, read the bible.

As of this writing, there are 12 different meets covering 22 books. Sadly, because of the sheer scope of the bible we usually pick one to four books per event depending on the size and focus on those. If you are not sure which book(s) will be used just check this tab for the  upcoming events nearest to you.

Yes, you can. This event doesn’t require a lot of work to run since most of the preparation is done in advance. Many people like to bring food to support the host church, which is always appreciated. Additionally, if you have a unique or fun item that could be used as a prop during the skit portion of the day, that would be a big help too!
